Throwback Thursday Part I
This is a post I’ve been wanting to work on for a while now. It’s a post mostly for Bry and me, but many of you have been on this life journey with us since the beginning, so I thought it’d be fun to share. All of the photos are in chronological order and include witty comments about how young, dumb, and in love we were with one another.
What a ride it’s been, this life with you.
And it just keeps getting better!
And the BEST kind of throwback: Xanga
For all my non-Xennials out there, if Facebook and blogging got married, Xanga would be the baby.
YOU GUYS.
We were so talented.
We literally taught ourselves html coding so we could design our own website.
Then we’d write super random, self-centered posts about what we ate that day and who looked cute in class.
Then we’d all comment on each others’ posts.
Sound familiar?
LISTEN.
Instagram ain’t got nothin’ on that Xanga life.
Although the site no longer exists, I had a stroke of genius one time and decided to archive all of my posts. So, even though you can’t see the site design I slaved over for hours on end in college, at least the text remains.
Here’s an excerpt from August 2005.
Any other web nerds out there still have their Xanga posts?
Nope? Just me? Cool. :/
And just for laughs, I found this description of Xanga on the Internets and it made me laugh. Imagine what they’d say today about what people reveal about themselves on the Internet, some 14 years later?!?!
“Xanga has been mentioned in major news publications worldwide as many law enforcement agencies believe that many of the 91 percent of some 40 million users aged 13 to 29 are revealing too much personal information about themselves on Xanga journals.”
